I love sketching at the Whangārei Town Basin. The scene is always changing with visiting boats tying up at the Quay. While the clock tower is the main landmark, I recommend exploring behind the old Reyburn House to see the amazing sundial and clock museum.

If you get the chance, the annual Maritime Festival is something to look forward to – great food, art, and even steamboat rides! It's also where you can hop on the loop track and walk over some very cool bridges (you'll find a picture of one elsewhere on my site).
