The Barge

We often share a bay with The Barge, as both our Anakiwa and this unique houseboat seek the same sheltered spots from the wind. She is a brand-new build and quite a sight, perfectly designed for shallow waters with a fantastic two-story layout. In this piece, I've painted her near the port marker at a favourite spot we call 'the nook'. It's a special place, made even more so by the fact that the talented builder of The Barge, Roland, also built the large house you can see on the shore here some 35 years ago.
